Boston Justice Program

Through the 2023 Boston Justice Program, we want participants to encounter Jesus in community and to be developed with the character and capacity to love God, love others, and love creation well.  We will be reading and discussing through scripture to teach us about power and God's heart for us to steward it well so we can be incarnationally present and compassionately engaged with the people and places around us.

This program will be hosted by the Global Engagement & Justice of New England's InterVarsity team (GEJ NEIV).  Our purpose is to invite staff and students into immersive discipleship opportunities to help propel forward the love of God, His justice, and the shalom of His Kingdom ‘here on earth as it is in heaven.’ Our vision as GEJ NEIV is to be embodied faith communities that are Holy Spirit led, proclaiming the Gospel, and rooted in forgiveness and reconciliation as we pursue Jesus’ Kingdom shalom alongside our neighbors.

The program will take place 10am-4pm each day the week of March 13th-17th. The cost is $25 for the week.

ECOWILD 21 Week 2

What does the future hold for our planet? What role will you play in caring for the environment?
The earth needs healing, and humans aren't always responsible global citizens. But you can change that.

Join the ServeUp team for EcoWild, a four-day backpacking adventure among the beauty and healing qualities of New Hampshire’s White Mountains.

EcoWild is not just a backpacking trip. We'll spend our time in conversation around global environmental influences and justice issues. Daily discussions focus on human responsibility in sustainability and lifestyle. Using the Abenaki belief in the Great Spirit (or 'the hidden one behind all things'), we'll reflect on nature's spiritual significance in our personal journeys.

About ServeUp
For years, ServeUp has linked arms to care for people impacted by disaster. Now we're seeking to join in the conversation and commit to exploring our strategy to care for the natural world.

Begin the Journey:
Join us for EcoWild 2021 by completing this short application.
Deadline to apply is May 1st

Once you've submitted the information above, Tom Brink, ServeUp Director, will contact you with the next steps.

You don't have to be a passive observer in the ongoing demise of the environment. Join EcoWild to become an agent of change for the betterment of the world.

*EcoWild is a program of InterVarsity Christian Fellowship. The cost for the total EcoWild experience is $150. COVID-19 safety protocols and wilderness travel guidelines will be observed at all times.

For more information and questions, contact Tom Brink at tom.brink@intervarsity.org.

Jesus and Justice Program: Boston 2021

Jesus & Justice 2021 will be a hybrid program based in Boston for MA based college and university students seeking to actively grow in following Jesus with their lives when it comes to issues of systemic injustice. As a cohort, we will spend some time in Scripture, hear from fellow believers how justice is part of their career work, and partner actively with some of them in the ongoing work of extending Jesus’ love and shalom to communities across Boston.

Morning Gatherings will be in-person:

(9am-1pm, including lunch) COVID-precautioned in-person hands-on 25* person cohort of seeing, learning, and engaging with some of Boston's issues of injustice. Throughout the week, we will be hearing from local leaders how their faith in Jesus motivates them in their ongoing work for the betterment of systems and people. Each day we will partner with a different organization, moving through the week from learning history of people, systems, and how their stories are impacted by COVID (or exacerbated). We will be partnered to learn from and serve with various organizations: from organizations seeking to be living systems of Jesus’ hope in the city, to caring for immigrants, to public health, to youth and families, and to the environment. As a cohort we will be present, will listen, and will engage with what they are already doing, giving of our time and skills where invited.

Evening Gatherings will be online via Zoom:

(7-9pm) will be a time to debrief the day, hear from local believers or in Scripture read what God has to say about justice, and spend time in prayerful reflection on what we are learning as a cohort.

Students applying must BE FULLY RESIDING in Massachusetts as of June 1st 2021 without travel outside of the state from June 1st- duration of program (until June 18th). All participants must have their own housing arrangements, and accessibility by bus, T, or car to Boston for the duration of the week program. No housing will be provided as we are unable to host a residential component due to COVID restrictions at this time. Transportation to and from locations during the week will be provided for the morning session hours.

Join us as an embodied faith community pursuing Jesus' shalom for New England alongside our neighbors in Boston MA this summer!

*Due to current MA-COVID regulations, we cannot gather in a group larger than 25. If MA guidelines are alerted, we will welcome more participants.

Boston Spring Retreat 2021

Join students from campuses across Boston and pursue presence with God. In a year when we've experienced so much isolation and division, we invite you to find true hope in the reality that God is present with us by setting aside this weekend for retreat and fellowship. We encourage you to plan your work and assignments in advance so that you can fully step away from everyday life and explore what it means to be in God’s presence. Depending on where you are right now and your degree of comfort, this retreat will have BOTH a fully virtual option AND a small, chapter-specific, in-person pod of three’s and four’s option. Although we cannot change the circumstances of COVID, we hope this flexibility of how retreat is done will create space for you to meet Jesus. Friday, March 5th 7:00pm to Saturday, March 6th 9:00pm

Virtual Empowered Conference

To learn how to live a reconciling life with God, of deeper Intimacy and Witness, through the power of the Spirit.
