Replanting Tulane
Our team was privileged to travel to New Orleans Sept 30-Oct 3 and we found Tulane a very welcoming place and that God has been going before us.
This trip introduced us to the student population in positive ways. Students love their campus and also are very friendly and open to talking. We spoke with over 100 students in two days using The Story Project to begin conversations and 45 students filled out contact cards.
Lauren and Danielle had a GIG ("Group Investigating God") on the second day in John 8 with three students, with another half dozen students very possible to join in the future. An IV alumnus of Duke has volunteered to continue the GIG this Thursday night and beyond until December.
ServeUP interest was very encouraging also. We handed out 50 flyers and many students seemed interested. We had three campus groups take flyers to introduce ServeUP to their members: Student Rotary, TAB (Tulane Alternative Break) and one other. The director of Campus Ministry at Loyola University (which is literally across the street from Tulane) was also very welcoming and said that he would place ServeUP information on their website and encourage overflow students to consider.
